BARHALE SPECIFY PLANT NAPPIES UNDER ALL SMALL SITE EQUIPMENT
At Walthamstow Reservoir No 4, Barhale faced very tight restrictions associated with the risks from oil and fuel spills. Iain Casson, Group Environmental Manager had concerns that drip trays under small equipment, such as generators, were inappropriate: They are heavy and require plant to move them, which can be difficult in areas with space constraints. In addition, when they are full of oily water, they are particularly difficult to handle and can be easily spilled. They can also be a safety problem due to their weight. Consequently we started using plant nappies under pumps and generators to prevent leaks entering the reservoir. Site teams reported that they are effective, easy to use and handle.
As a result of this experience Iain Casson is recommending Plant Nappies under all small equipment on all Barhale Sites where there is a risk.
